This year's World MoveIt Day promises to be a truly democratic event, with a unique twist in the judging process. For the first time, all participants will have the chance to vote for the winners of the hackathon competition. This means that those who have contributed to the event will also get to decide on who is most deserving of the prizes, creating a level playing field and giving everyone a voice. Of course, there is a caveat - participants cannot vote for their own submission, ensuring that the process remains fair and impartial. This inclusive approach to judging encourages collaboration, camaraderie, and healthy competition, reflecting the ethos of the MoveIt community.
World MoveIt Day is an annual celebration that brings together roboticists, developers, and enthusiasts from around the world to collaborate and contribute to the open-source software MoveIt. Set to take place on June 8th, the celebration coincides with the 10th anniversary of the inception of MoveIt, the most popular robot arm software worldwide. In a first for the event, this year's theme will revolve around the use of Machine Learning (ML) and the newly-released Python Bindings, reflecting the continued evolution of MoveIt through advanced technologies. To facilitate this exciting development, PickNik and Elephant Robotics are sponsoring the event, providing a variety of prizes for participants. World MoveIt Day offers a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with other developers and enthusiasts, and gain further insight into the future of robotics software.
This year's World MoveIt Day promises to be a truly global event, with both virtual and in-person elements. While the festivities will be centered at PickNik Robotics headquarters in beautiful Boulder, Colorado, individuals from all over the world are welcome to participate. To ensure everyone can join in on the fun, we've set up a MoveIt Discord group that allows participants to break into teams and work on their projects together. This collaborative approach fosters a sense of community and ensures that everyone has the opportunity to contribute their skills and expertise. Furthermore, to make the event as inclusive as possible, we will be livestreaming the entire event on YouTube, allowing anyone to tune in and follow the action from anywhere in the world. Whether you're in Boulder or Bangladesh, World MoveIt Day is the perfect opportunity to connect with fellow robotic enthusiasts and celebrate the amazing technology of MoveIt.
